Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 7 amβ3 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Ka-Fair Coffee and Cakery at (412) 362-8800; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is kafaircakery.wixsite.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.8 out of 5 from 249 reviews, which is a strong result for a cafe in Pittsburgh and suggests consistent service.
Pittsburgh is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Pittsburgh is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I stopped here after visiting the fabric store. I wish I had brought a book or knitting, it was so cute in there. I got a hot chai tea and the banoffee, oh my gosh, both were perfect and delicious! I need to come here more often. This was my first time. Definitely going to stay for the cute set up and enjoy my tea a bit longer. Seriously, go here

This past weekend, I headed over to Morningside, a new spot for me, in the East end neighborhood. A Thai inspired cafe, Ka-Fair Coffee and Cakery. A quaint space and welcomed the second you walked through the door! Everyone was so nice as if you just showed up and they were waiting for you π Two of the kindest women behind the counter, attentive to anything and everything you need!! I felt that! I ordered an Iced Dirty Chai Latte, as I asked for her recs, and a homemade Cinnamon role that will never be topped!! I'll be thiking of that for weeks! I took notice as of late, the coffee shops are nuzzled in these "old school" tight street neighborhoods. They are homes turned coffee shop, and I'm in their living room! There is something I love about that! I always say, it begins at home, w/multiple pots of coffee & conversations! That has been the vibe for me and I end up staying longer than I planned. By this time, I am enjoying my coffee & watching the "regulars" come in, asking across the room, "How's your mom doing, better?" Etc.. People watching has become more of a hobby for me! at a coffee shop π Everyone was happy in this space. One after another! I always say, you never know

The tiramisu lattes were okay, they werenβt very sweet in my opinion. The actual piece of tiramisu cake on top of the coffee was a nice touch though. I kind of wish the cake was included on the side though, it got a little soggy in the coffee. The crepe cake was delicious and beautiful presentation!

kafair is one of the most valuable assets to the neighborhood. not only is it a great coffee shop with delicious handcrafted beverages and homemade pastries and baked goods, it is a gathering place for the community. from hosting board game nights to having a food truck come monthly, there are countless reasons that i love kafair and i am glad they exist.

Someone said this isnβt really a βcakery,β but I think they just missed the good stuff. The chocolate cake here is easily one of my favorites β rich and not too sweet. The honey corn cake is also lovely, and the signature crepe cake? Super soft and really well made. You can adjust the sweetness of your drinks too β the ownerβs kind and happy to customize, which I love. Chill vibe, cozy space, and real care in the details. Definitely a local gem Iβll be coming back to. π©·
